Leaving behind their youth, these cadets must decide what they are fighting for.。1934年秋，因“左”倾冒险主义的错误，第五次反“围剿”失败，党中央和红军主力被迫撤离。在保卫苏区战斗中负重伤的陈毅临危受命，协助中央分局书记项英就地抗击，迷惑敌人，掩护主力实行战略转移。项英为坚决执行中革军委的命令，没有采纳陈毅提出的改变组织方式和斗争方式，后陷入绝境，不得不改弦更张，派出张鼎丞、李乐天、陈丕显等去各地加强领导，经营游击根据地。在最危急的时刻，“遵义会议”改组后的党中央发来电文，要求中央分局坚持以游击战争为斗争方式，并让陈毅参与军分委领导。中央分局决定分路突围，但战机已失，部队大部被歼。此时蒋介石才明白中共战略转移的意图，在围追堵截中央红军的同时，为彻底扑灭这些留下的革命火种，调集大军，不惜代价，以十个拼一个的决心残酷清剿。但坚贞的共产党人从血泊中站起，收集残部，各自为战。。
